Losing a tooth does not mean that you have to cope with a permanent gap in your teeth, or start wearing dentures. For an increasing number of patients dental implants provide an excellent solution.
An implant is a replacement tooth root, which allows a false tooth to be anchored permanently into the jaw, just like a real tooth.
The implant itself is a titanium post inserted into the gum. Left in place for two to four months, the bone around the implant gradually grows and bonds with the implant, holding it securely in place. The implant can then be fitted with a false tooth, in much the same way that a crown is fitted to a real tooth root. The result will look and feel like a natural tooth.
Implants can be used to replace one or more individual teeth. Alternatively, implants can be used to hold dentures firmly in place, allowing you to eat and talk more comfortably.
